What Gets Validated

Every number is checked against multiple data points before we return a result.

Format Validity

Checks whether the number length and structure are correct for the given country code.

Line Type

Tells you if it's a mobile, landline, VoIP, or toll-free number — useful for knowing how to reach someone.

Carrier / Network

Identifies the telecom operator: Vodafone, AT&T, Orange, T-Mobile, etc.

Country of Origin

Detects the country from the calling code and number prefix.

Region / City

For landlines and some mobile numbers, we can narrow down the geographic area.

International Formatting

Returns the number in E.164 international format and the local national format side by side.

Who Uses This

Phone lookup and validation are useful across several professional workflows.

Sales Reps

Get direct-dial numbers for prospects so you can skip the switchboard and reach decision-makers directly.

Talent Acquisition

When a candidate's email bounces, their phone number is your backup. Find it from their PeopleSearch profile.

Data Operations

Validate phone numbers in bulk before importing them into your CRM or dialer — catch formatting errors and dead numbers early.

Fraud Prevention

Identify VoIP and virtual numbers during sign-up flows. Useful for KYC checks and reducing fake accounts.

Privacy & Data Handling

Validation is stateless — we check the number and return a report. Nothing gets stored.

Common Questions

Where do the phone numbers come from?
PeopleSearch pulls from publicly available sources — business directories, professional profiles, company websites, and public registries. If a number is publicly tied to a person's professional identity, it may appear in results.
What does validation tell me?
Whether the number is structurally valid, what type of line it is (mobile, landline, VoIP), which carrier operates it, and what country it belongs to. For landlines, we can often narrow down the city or region.
Will every profile have a phone number?
No. Phone numbers are less commonly public than email addresses. Availability depends entirely on what's been published in public sources. We show whatever is available.
Mobile vs. landline vs. VoIP — why does it matter?
Mobile numbers are cell phones, landlines are fixed office or home lines, and VoIP numbers run over the internet (services like Google Voice or Skype). Knowing the type helps you pick the right channel — or spot numbers that may not belong to a real person.
Is this GDPR compliant?
Yes. We only surface publicly available data. The validation tool processes numbers in real time without storing them. Data removal requests can be submitted through our contact page.
Can I look up international numbers?
Yes. Our validator supports phone numbers from virtually every country. Include the full international dialing code (e.g. +44, +49, +33) for best results.
What's the difference between validation and lookup?
Validation checks the technical properties of a number — is it properly formatted, what carrier operates it, what country it belongs to. Lookup tries to find who owns the number by searching our people database for matching profiles.
Will the person know I looked up their number?
No. Validation and lookup are passive checks. We query our own database and public sources. The phone number owner is never contacted or notified.
Why does it say "VoIP" for some numbers?
VoIP numbers run over the internet — services like Google Voice, Skype, or business phone systems. They're not tied to a physical SIM card. This is useful to know because VoIP numbers are sometimes used for temporary or anonymous communication.
How accurate is the carrier information?
Carrier data is based on number block assignments from national telecom registries. It's highly accurate for the original carrier. If a user ported their number to a different carrier, we may still show the original assignment.
